Old pub - new beginnings
The Winterton Arms has re-opened and there have been significant changes to the pub in the last few months. The Winterton is now under family management and we hope to bring warmth, professionalism and a modern dining experience to this pretty little country pub.
We have had a total re-fit which is sympathetic to its existing, historical features, but now includes a more contemporary finish and cleaner layout. There is a completely refurbished bar area and additional, intimate dining areas.
Summer and Winter
We wanted to create a really special atmosphere for locals and other visitors that is relaxed and offers great food and reasonably priced drinks.
The pub is perfect for summer visitors with its large garden and local events at Goodwood, Chiddingfold, Midhurst, Petworth and Haslemere.
It also retains the features which make the local pub an enticement through the winter: Wood burning stoves, low-level lighting and subtle decor. We welcome those with dogs and children, the walkers, the riders and those new to the area.
Meet the Family
The pub is now co-owned and run by the Gabler family and Andrew's fiance Stephanie Jones.
Andrew & Stephanie run the pub with the knowledge gleaned from their studies & work experience in Birmingham.
While Stephanie was working for one of the city's top chefs Glynn Purnell in his flagship restaurant 'Purnell's' & later in his second restaurant 'The Asquith' as waitress & front of house manager; Andrew was developing his talent in one of Birminghams busiest restaurants 'Bodega Bar & Cantina', where he started as chef de partie & quickly grew to become head chef.
Keith, who grew up in the nearby village of Liphook, has recently returned to England after 30 years of working in Barbados as a production manager. It was here that he met with his wife of 29 years, Jan, who worked at the island's exclusive Sandy Lane Hotel. She is a devout Anglophile and this passion aligned with her love of Keith, as well as Drew's & Steph's passion for the industry has lead them to undertake this new venture together as a family.

The Winterton and Chiddingfold
The pub is located in the rolling Weald countryside between the villages of Witley and Chiddingfold - Surrey. Much of the photography on the site is of Chiddingfold and will give you a sense of the wonderful landscape surrounding us.
The area is a favourite with ramblers, horse-trekkers and those seeking out England's historic villages.
The village of Chiddingfold is centred around a large open green. Many of the surrounding houses were built in the 14th and 16th century. To the south of the green sits the village pond and a pretty little Saxon church dating from C1190.
